BIOGRAPHY Phillip Bennett was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1978. He entered Air Force basic training on 20 September 1978 at Lackland AFB, TX. He also attended Law Enforcement Technical Training School at Lackland AFB and was an Honor Graduate. He served in assignments across the US as well as Japan and Thule AB, Greenland. In 1999 while at Columbus AFB he was selected as the Wing Senior NCO of the Year and won the Air Education and Training Command Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award. Sergeant Bennett was personally selected to be part of the Headquarters Air Education and Training Command Security Forces Staff and served as Superintendent Current Operations and Superintendent of Contingency Operations. He retired from the Air Force in June 2003 obtaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He is currently a Special Education teacher at Longs Creek Elementary School in San Antonio. Sergeant Bennett’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with bronze star, and the National Defense Service Medal. He also has Associates Degrees in Administration of Justice and Criminal Justice and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Business Management. Mr. Bennett has been
a resident of Guadalupe County since 2000, residing in Schertz Texas.
He was a Delegate to the 2008 Guadalupe County Democratic Convention
where he served on the Rules Committee and was selected as a State
Delegate to the 2008 Texas Democratic Convention in Austin. He is married
to the former Betty Day of Mountain Grove, Missouri and they have three
children.
